About Sun Wah BBQ

Located at 5039 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60640, Sun Wah BBQ operates as a chinese restaurant serving Chicago in Illinois. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 10 amโ€“2 pm. Note that it does not open on Thursday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (773) 769-1254. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is sunwahbbq.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 2,814 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese restaurant in Chicago and suggests consistent service.

We had the Beijing duck dinner, which came with steamed buns, duck soup, duck fried rice, and a whole duck that was carved tableside and served on a platter. We also ordered the BBQ pork steamed buns. The service was very friendly, although they were extremely busy and my water was often left empty. That said, the food came out of the kitchen surprisingly quickly. We really enjoyed everything we ordered. Our favorite bite was taking the duck, dipping it in hoisin sauce, and putting it inside a steamed bun. It was absolutely delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily come back.

45-60 mins wait around 6.30/7pm. Very vibrant restaurant, feels like old style ๅคงๆŽ’ๆช” marketplace dinning experience. Signature roasted duck plate: overall 3.5/5 *not the traditional Peking Duck authentic way of eating but it's still a good duck. i. Roasted duck with ๅˆฎๅŒ… bun instead of the thin wrap 4/5 - good duck, not thin cut, skin with meat, juicy on the center but dry on the thighs, skin not crisp ii. Duck soup 4.7/5 - good duck flavor with winter melon iii. Duck fried rice 3/5 - no ้‘Šๆฐฃ, lack of flavors, just soy sauce and similar to chicken broth kind of flavor. iv. Shrimp wonton soup 1/5 - very salty and not flavorful (straightly soy sauce taste), no shrimp tasted, visibly can't see any shrimp, occasionally a tiny bit of shrimp is visible with small bites. The soup is nothing special. v. Chilled homemade soy milk 4.5/5 - good balance with soy flavor and sugar, plus it's $2 a bottle. Staff is constantly busy attending to tables in a big place. Be patient with their service including getting your check (approx. 20mins in total).

Sun Wah BBQ, Chicago (North side). This is Hongkong style bbq. The Peking (Beijing) Duck here is a must try! As package, you will have sliced Peking Duck, Duck fried rice and soup. Btw this dish is off the menu. The fried rice and stir fry egg plant were equally fantastic! This is a 4.7/5.0 stars restaurant. Service is standard of fast moving Chinese restaurant.

When is roast duck bad for your health? When you're the duck! Oh my goodness this is hands down one of the best places in Chicago for Peking Duck. The food is done to perfection and the cocktails are fabulous as well. Definitely make sure that you stop into Sun Wah BBQ. Ask for Ki to be your server, Molly sent you.

The most iconic spot for Peking duck in Chicago! This renowned restaurant lived up to the expectation. The restaurant had plenty of seating, but keep in mind, you have to call ahead to reserve the whole duck dinner. The base price is $70, and youโ€™ll definitely need six extra bao buns, which is another $4.50. It is intended for three to four people, and we thought it was a decent portion. Your food is brought out almost instantly, and they slice the duck tableside. The special thing about this Peking duck meal is that no part of the duck is wasted. The duck meat was so tender, smoky, and juicy. The skin was crisped nicely and provided a good textural contrast with the succulent meat. The roasted duck comes with thinly sliced carrots, green onions, radish, and a sweet, tart sauce, which all pair perfectly. The bao buns were steaming hot and pillowy soft. Putting together all the ingredients resulted in a grandiose symphony of flavors. The second course was the duck fried rice. It was seasoned well but did not seem to have too much duck meat. Lastly, we finished our meal with a soothing soup made from the duck carcass. The broth was rich and reinvigorating. If youโ€™re looking for an au
